Teaching

This page links to syllabi and section policies for all of the courses I have taught or TA’ed at UCLA. At the bottom, I include a number of materials I use in my classes—from midterm evaluations to informational handouts—to give a sense of the type of courses I conduct.

My Teaching Philosophy

Evidence of Teaching Excellence

(unedited student reviews)

A brief note on my syllabi:

You might notice that most of my syllabi are shorter than average. This is intentional: I want the syllabus to be an easy reference point for students rather than a reading assignment in and of itself. I usually create a concise table that lists the dates, readings, and assignments that you can see on one page. The syllabus articulates my overall expectations and briefly summarizes the goals of the class; later, I distribute any additional information for specific assignments or materials as separate documents. I firmly believe that the brief syllabus is more useful to students who struggle to organize their time and materials effectively (and certainly doesn’t harm those who don’t).
